Migration and festivals

Autumn blessed with South Easterly winds will once more draw birders from far and near. Fair Isle is synonymous with migrant birds and the ferry to get there is only a short drive from Havra. Autumn is really the richest time for wildlife of all kinds in Shetland.

As the nights draw in, the local produce starts to peak, from harvest and the sea with many varieties unique to Shetland and the finest fish possible, fresh from the market daily, or catch you own! Nearby lochs hold brown trout, sea trout and the coast is never far away.

An annual festival of food takes place in the autumn, attracting top food connoisseurs to sample and prepare the finest produce. For the outdoor types Shetland is ideal for hiking, mountain biking, sea-kayaking, diving and angling. Havra is ideally placed for any of these activities.
